Life is hard, complicated and unfair.  We agree, right?

Wrong.

Life is horribly easy.  Breathe, eat, sleep – this is life, literally.

We have all won the jackpot of the human existence lottery – breath, food, sleep are more accessible than ever.

So why does life feel so damn “hard”?

We are “victims” to a mind that has been programmed (through millions of years of necessity and natural selection) to want more, and more, and more . . . without end.  Our mind thinks our survival depends on it, because it used to.

More food because who knows where the next meal will come from.

More security because who knows how big the invading tribe will be.

More safety because physical danger lurks around every corner.

Our mind convinces us, emotionally, to prepare for the Denver Broncos when we know, intellectually, that the opponent is St. Mary’s Home of the Blind JV team.

Reversing this perception requires a fight against our instincts and millions of years of programming.  The alternative is a lifetime sentence on the Hedonic Treadmill*.
