Do you make time for charity?  Volunteering for the Habitat for Humanity or the local soup kitchen – applying your efforts to improve the lives of others is rewarding on many levels.

Have you considered making time for the forgotten charity of “YOU”?

The “future you” . . . is a different person than you are.  Tomorrow’s “future you” would surely appreciate whatever help he can get.  Ever consider helping him out?  Making his life easier, more enjoyable, and manageable.

What charitable acts are you doing for “future you”?   Washing the dishes, doing the laundry, paying your bills . . . your are NOT doing that for you.  If you were doing what YOU wanted, you certainly wouldn’t be matching socks on the living floor on a Saturday afternoon.  You don’t reap the benefits of any of these chores.  These are acts of charity to your future self.

What selfless acts of kindness can you can you give your “future self”?

(Aside:  The knee-jerk reaction is that this philosophy contributes to a self-centered one.  I disagree.  Embracing the spirit of charity towards your future self fosters and sustains an overall sense of charity in our lives.  Try it.)
